How come when I am logged in my forum profile says "Status: ( Offline )" still?
It's been that way for ages. If/when they fix it I really hope sViz's WCUA stats widget will work again. It was a great liile widgy that told you who was online on WC.
'though my site says I'm female..... my profile still says I'm male....
thinking of changing my nic to VictorVictoria.....
or... SidneySydney....
don't think these things are priorities...
Since this is a weekend, just being able to post about a forum issue without something going boom is a major step forward.
Male/Female/Undecided...makes no difference. To quote the Firesign Theater "I think we're all bozos on this bus." Link
SydneySydney beats that, hands down.
"An Aussie pretending to be a South African pretending to be a Aussie."
* bloody ouch! doc's off to take a headache powder.
hmmmm.....shameless self plug department.
Is anyone from Stardock going to respond to this issue? Or am I just wasting my time again?
They might, but you would have had a better chance if this was posted under Stardock Support.
What browser are you using?
I use IE 8 and don't have the problem.
I'm still a male in my profile! Though I really am all woman! Ask my husband!
I use IE8 and Firefox (latest) Philly, same problem on both browsers, and it just made sense to me to post a forum issue in the "Forum Issues" category.
Hey LightStar; this is a very old bug/issue that Stardock has been made aware of in the past, for myself it has been at least 2 years since the last time my profile actually showed me as online when logged in.
Thanks Cavan1, I appreciate the info.
I had the same problem. I went over to my profile on the Stardock site and changed it there and here. Now I'm female again on both sites. A bit strange?
Showing a user as being "online" when they visit a website doesn't mean much. The user can close the browser at any time and the database wouldn't know about it. Not to mention we'd have to have a call to the database on every single page to let it know that the user is still "online."
I think I might just remove this feature entirely, as it's kind of useless (this is a forum with static content, not a chat with dynamic content).
As for the male/female bit. I think the problem is that we have multiple locations where we store the user's sex. This means that on one site, it might be saving to one location and on another to a different location. I'll look into where all these locations are and possibly converging them.
Bara
Good idea to just get rid of it then Bara.
You guys should just get vBulletin
